How often does my pet need dental care?
Routine dental exams are important at least once per year. However, pets prone to tartar buildup may require professional cleaning more frequently. We also provide at-home dental care tips and products to help maintain your pet’s oral health between visits.
What are the vaccine requirements for boarding?

Dogs: Must be current on Bordetella, Rabies, DHLPP/DHPP, & Canine Influenza vaccines
Cats: Must be current on Rabies & DRC/FVRCP

Can I bring my pet’s medication and food when boarding?
Absolutely! We encourage you to bring your pet’s regular food, labeled clearly, to minimize digestive upset. Medications should be in the original container with dosage instructions. Note any special feeding or administration notes when you drop them off.
Do you offer grooming services during boarding?
Yes—we can include optional departure baths or basic grooming for pets boarding with us. Just let us know when you reserve their stay, and we’ll add grooming during their check-in.
Do you accept pet insurance? How do I use it?
We work directly with many major pet insurance providers. If your plan allows direct billing, we’ll submit claims on your behalf. Otherwise, you pay at the time of service and submit receipts yourself. Let us know your provider when checking in, and we’ll assist.
What payment options are available for emergency or expensive treatments?
We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express, as well as cash or check. Financing options like CareCredit are also available to help spread costs for unexpected procedures—ask our front desk for details.
Do you accommodate same-day emergency appointments?

Yes—call us at 252‑243‑6252 as soon as possible. We’ll triage your pet’s situation, fit them in if we have an opening, or refer you to the nearest 24-hour emergency hospital if immediate overnight care is needed.

What if I need to change or cancel my appointment?
We ask that you call at least 24 hours in advance to cancel or reschedule. This allows us to fill your slot and offer care to another pet. Late cancellations may incur a fee.
Can you issue travel health certificates and passports?
Yes—we prepare all necessary paperwork, including health certificates, boxer certificates, and vaccine records, for domestic or international travel. Plan ahead, since some certifications require pets to visit at specific times before departure.
Do you help with relocating pets across state lines?
Absolutely. We can complete interstate health certificates and advise on travel-safe vaccines or precautions—like tick/flea prevention—for your pet’s journey and fresh environment.
What should new puppy or kitten owners expect during the first visit?
New pet exams include a full health check, initial vaccines, deworming, microchip placement, nutrition guidance, and behavioral advice. We’ll also show you how to care for your new companion and set up their next wellness visit.
Are pocket pets or exotic animals welcome?
Yes—we care for small and pocket pets, and we also have expertise in exotic species, thanks to Dr. Fulghum and our team. Please indicate your pet’s species when scheduling so we can allocate proper exam time.
